While repairs and restorations are demanding on craftsmanship, expertise and dexterity of the luthier, the construction of new instruments requires additional effort in the vast area of creativity and innovation.

My philosophy

Ideas are asked for. Input – also by customers – is wished for. Experiments are permitted. Everything is allowed which ensures an instrument displays the characteristics requested by musicians. This encompasses, especially, the tone. I have always attempted to modernize traditional techniques to influence tone quality positively.

The construction of bowed instruments is way more traditional than guitar making.
